Steel fibre-reinforced concretes are used for industrial floor construction and tunneling. Steel fibres are mainly applied in order to avoid and distribute cracks resulting from constraint and inherent stresses. The post cracking strength as well as the overall performance of a steel fibre reinforced concrete are influenced by the distribution and orientation of the fibres.
