Installation of resilient concrete pipelines begins at the plant

American Concrete Pipe Association, Irving, Texas 75063-2595, USA

Structural strength of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) is provided through manufacturing with concrete and steel reinforcement. RCP utilizes concrete to resist compressive forces and steel reinforcement to resist tensile forces that are present under load (Figure 1). To assist the contractor with installation of concrete pipelines and culverts that are resilient to the forces of nature and impacts of man, concrete pipe producers begin the steps to a proper installation at the plant with standardized pipe design and precision production equipment.
